Band News and Announcements

Band Camp Update – 2nd July Update

Parents,

We (the directors) are working very carefully to provide a quality camp this August.  We are following mandates by both the State government and our school district.  We do not have the option of making our own rules or procedures regarding the pandemic.

Here is the updated information based upon conversations with administration last week.

Masks – We will not need masks during our field time outside.  We will however keep a safe distance.  Students need masks if they need to use the bathroom inside in any other close situation they may encounter.

Water – The boosters will work on a refilling solution.  Lager individual containers or coolers are still a good idea.  Students will need their own water bottle and can not share that bottle with others.

Check In – We will still be having a check in area in the back of the school where temperatures will be taken before camp begins.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.  This is still very much a time of changes and we will communicate with you any changes that may occur.

Date are still as scheduled:

July 28th Leadership Team 9-12

July 30th Freshman and Leadership Team

July 30th Leadership Team 12-3

Aug 3-7 Band Camp 9-4

On an unrelated note, Mr. VanStrien will be taking some vacation time starting today July 14 through the weekend.

Sincerely,

Greg VanStrien and Lisa Borst

July Update – High School Band Camp

July Update

Band Camp – We are still on schedule to hold Band Camp from Aug 3-7 from 9am-4pm   If there any changes due to COVID-19 precautions we will let you know immediately

Band Commitment Form – Parents please submit the Band Commitment Form for your student if you have not done so already.  We must have this to ensure an accurate count for drill.  Currently we only have half of the forms turned in.  Without an accurate count, the show can not be written.

If you have not done this yet, please do so online at: https://forms.gle/RC5KDE4gDHe1DUdz8

Camp Procedures

Check In – Each student will have to sign in each day of camp and have their temperature checked.

Face Masks – Masks will be required for camp.  We will have procedures to be able to play and maintain 6 foot spacing.  Masks that can be pulled up and down may be helpful

Social Distancing  – We will keep social distancing in both the drill and our activities.

Water – Bring your own water jug.  Students will not be allowed to refill at school at this time.

There are sill a lot of things we are working through and we will keep you updated with any new developments.

We hope you are enjoying your summer!

Mr. VanStrien and Mrs. Borst

End of the Year Update and plans for High School Band 20-21

End of the Year Updates and What We Know Right Now

This post is for all enrolled incoming freshmen and all enrolled high school band members for 20-21 and their parents.  Please take the time to read this email carefully.

I would like to begin by saying how much we miss all our students and being able to make music together.  We miss
our Band Family!  It has been difficult to be in the position of waiting and we want to communicate with you what we know right now.   We have been maintaining contact with our administration and are developing several different plans for what the start of our year could look like.

We are still holding our original date of Aug 3-7 for Band Camp
.  We are looking into procedures to make sure we have a safe camp and follow the guidelines from the State.

Here is what we need right now.

Parents – please fill out the following Band Commitment form for the 2020-21 school year.  It will only take a couple of minutes!  You will see more instructions and dates on the form but we need this document for planning purposes.  We do get a roster from the school however the counselors work on Infinite Campus as a “work in progress” and can be prone to errors.  We use our form to plan and we don’t want to leave anyone out!  Here is a link to the form:
