Booster Meeting

Monday, Nov. 19, 2018

Meeting called to order at 6:05 pm

In attendance- Amy Karns, Greg VanStrien, Lisa Borst, Karen Pike, Christine Sprague, Beth Mast, Nathan Soules , Lindsy Harkness, Linda Kline, Michelle Callahan

Student rep: Natalie Kline

Reports

  • October meeting minutes reviewed- motion carried to approval by Beth M and Karen P.
  • Financial
    • Chocolate bill paid. Trip payment made.
    • Bank statement reviewed and approved.- motion carried to approval by Karen P and Beth M.
  • Fundraisers- reminders in newsletter. All fundraisers to be cleared thru Lisa Adams/ Administration.
    • Family Fare receipts- $115,000/$150,000 goal, digital receipts must be printed- reminder in newsletter.
    • SCRIP- Amy K
      • 22 active people, $2247 made towards student accounts for trip, $67.40 to general fund/ Booster credit card signed up for SCRIP.
    • Chocolate Sale- can check out more candy- contact Amy K or Beth M.
    • Silent Auction (Marching Banquet)- $99 to general fund/ $1700 to student accounts.
    • Panera Bread fundraiser-$62 profit.
    • Water bottle/ t-shirt/ sweatshirt fundraiser- Amy K to check with Running Stitches- can do web orders; Amy K to check other websites for prices.
    • 5 Below- Nov. 23-29
      • Flyer has gone out. Reminder email by Amy K, Directors to pass out flyers.
    • Cookie Dough sale- 11/17- 11/27; pick up @ CHS 12/17.

Vice President/ Uniform Committee -Christine S.

  • Concert fittings started 11/19. Signup.com for volunteers.
    • Dry cleaning fee- $25 bill to student, Due 1/18/19; hardship to contact Amy K, fee can be paid via student acct- motion carried by Karen P and Beth M.
    • Uniform fittings- additional discussion needed- tabled until Spring 2019.

Band Director’s Report

  • High school auditions finished.
  • Holiday concerts- 12/11-12/14. Booster table.
  • Mr VanStrien asking for low $$ reward/ incentive ideas for during class time.

New Business

  • Solo and Ensemble- 12/1. Hosting.
    • Parent volunteers- signup.com.
  • Membership growth
    • Article IV Membership  Sec. 1The membership in this organization shall not be limited.  Parents of the students in the band are automatically to be considered members.  Anyone interested in the progress and development of the band is eligible for membership.
    • Article 1 Officers  Sec. 5 A meeting of the officers may be called at any time by the President when deemed necessary.  A meeting of the membership may be called at the discretion of the executive committee.
    • Article II Committees  Sec. 1 The standing committees shall be as follows:  Executive (Uniform, Fundraising, Solo Ensemble, Banquet)- ADD “Executive Board members must have student in the band program.”
    • Above agreed upon by all in attendance- motion carried to approval by Beth M and Karen P.
  • SCRIP- Amy K to get $100 reloadable Amazon card for Directors.
  • Athletic Boosters- Would like band in sports program, possible senior recognition night, help with concession stand. Need ideas.
  • 2019 Fundraisers- Applebee’s breakfast.
  • Student Rep input- Natalie K.- Re: uniform fittings- she will make announcement to band.

Old Business

  • Thank you- Doug Kuhn- gift card for hauling equipment trailer for Red Flannel Days.- Karen P.

Next meeting- January 14 @ 6:00pm. High school choir room.
