Muskegon Invitational Cancelled Due to Projected Inclement Weather
We have some disappointing news to share this morning. The Muskegon Marching Invitational was canceled this morning due to the projected weather forecast. We have spent a lot of time with the director from Muskegon this morning weighing the pros and cons. Here are the factors that went into the decision.
Safety – If we attended the festival and thunderstorms rolled in, we would not have an immediate place for shelter. With construction around Muskegon High School the busses would be out of reach.
Covid Protocol – In the event of thunderstorms, we would not be able to transition inside. Musekgon requires everyone to be masked and we do not currently have the correct PPE for instruments belll covers and playing masks that we would need.
Bussing and Clinicians – With any cancellation we need to give the bus garage notice so they can contact the drivers and change plans. Muskegon also had clinicians set to drive in today and they need time to adjust their schedule as well.
While we are disappointed we can not perform today, we are looking forward to our auditorium show next week and celebrating the fantastic work our students have displayed this year!
The Muskegon Invitational itinerary is updated with some new information. We now have approximate return times and information about dinner. After our show, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a pizza dinner with the Muskegon Band. Playoffs You have probably heard our football team is doing very well, which will likely lead us to playoff football. We want to be there to support our team! It is best to start looking ahead and planning on Friday evenings after the regular season has ended. Go Broncos!
We are happy to be able to do our traditional auditorium show again this year, however, we are not yet able to add the potluck that we usually would do before the show. We will still begin with an awards presentation followed immediately by the show.
