WEEK 8 – (10/15 – 10/18)

Family Fare Receipts – Keep bringing them in!!

5TH GRADE BAND

  • The “newness” has worn off and some students are beginning to struggle because they are not practicing.
  • A little bit of practice can go a long way. Quality over quantity!
  • Many students are struggling with reading note names. www.musicracer.com is a great game to help students learn note names and fingerings!

6TH GRADE BAND

  • Eb scale!
  • Ask your student to name the “Eb” Concert danger note.

7TH & 8th GRADE BAND

  • Band Uniform polos were passed out and should have been brought home.
    • A handful of students did not receive a uniform because we needed to order more!
  • Solo and ensemble pianist information was handed out. Please contact your pianist as soon as possible and set up at least 2 rehearsal times. Pianists may come in during class, seminar or after school.
  • 7th Grade: Test on “pink sheet” scales #1 (Bb) & #2 (Eb) coming up at the end of next week
  • 8th Grade: Grades from the past test will be posted
    • Students can submit test retakes on google classrooms
    • Challenges are now open if students choose to complete and submit.

HIGH SCHOOL BANDS

REMINDERS

  • Home Football Game TONIGHT →  Report time 4:45pm

  • Band Banquet/Auditorium Show – TOMORROW Saturday, 10/20
    • Dinner will start at 5:00pm (Good seats fill up fast!)
      • Students are encouraged to dress nicely!
      • All family members are invited to attend.
      • Each family should plan to bring a main dish and a salad or dessert to share as well as their own beverage, plates, napkins a cutlery.
    • Auditorium show will begin at approximately 6:15pm
      • Students will be in full marching band uniform.
    • A silent auction to help students fundraise for the NY trip will be going on throughout the evening. Stay tuned for more information!

SYMPHONIC BAND & WIND ENSEMBLE BEGIN ON MONDAY

  • Students should bring their concert band instruments.
  • Audition materials for chair placements in both ensembles will be passed on Monday.
    • Students will be responsible to record and upload their audition to google classroom on their own time. Percussion will be given class time due to the nature of their instrument. This is also worth a grade.
