The 6th grade band consists of 2nd year instrumentalists that play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn and percussion. Additional instruments are introduced throughout the school year to complete the band’s instrumentation. These instruments include tuba, euphonium/baritone bassoon, oboe, tenor saxophone and baritone saxophone. After the instruments are introduced to the band and with parent permission the 6th grade students have the opportunity to audition to play these instruments on a permanent basis.
The 6th grade band meets everyday and students work to build upon the fundamentals learned in 5th grade band. Students entering sixth grade band that have not completed the Coopersville fifth grade band program will need to create a plan with the band directors to ensure his or her success. Students participate in two performances throughout the school year, the Holiday Concert and Spring Concert. Because this is a performance-based class, we ask for a yearlong commitment.
The 7th grade band consists of 3rd year instrumentalists that play flute, oboe, clarinet, alto/tenor/baritone saxophone, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium/baritone, tuba and percussion.The 7th grade band meets everyday and students work to expand upon both individual and full band fundamentals.
This is the first year students have the unique opportunity to participate individually in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association Solo and Ensemble. The 7th grade band performs at several concerts throughout the school year including MSBOA Festival Evaluation Performance. Because this is a performance-based class, we ask for a yearlong commitment.
The 8th grade band consists of 4th year instrumentalists that play flute, oboe, clarinet, alto/tenor/baritone saxophone, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium/baritone, tuba and percussion.The 8th grade band meets everyday and students work to expand upon both individual and full band fundamentals.
Students perform at several concerts throughout the school year including including Solo & Ensemble, a combined choir and band holiday concert, festival concert and evaluation, spring concert as well as the opportunity to march with the high school band in the Memorial Day Parade.
