High School and 8th Grade Band Parents,

At the band banquet we discussed date possibilities for next school year.  With the possibility of an earlier start to the school year next year we know that the week we have normally have band camp will no longer work.  I want to thank all the parents who either filled out the written survey did the online survey.  The results were 87% in favor of July 30-August 3 and 13% for July 23-July 27.  Band camp will be July 30th-August 3 at Coopersville High School.   If those date propose a conflict for you child, please get it touch with us in the spring and we’ll make a plan to accommodate.

We are in need of parent chaperones for the Red Flannel Invitational this Saturday, October 7th.  We need a minimum of 2 chaperones per bus.

Reminder – Marching Season Begins tomorrow!

Conflicts – Several parents have emailed me about conflicts with athletic practices this week and next.   We have a plan in place for many of them but we still need communication between the band directors and the coach.  I would like to work on a compromise plan where we split time.  If you could include the coach in your requests that can help as well.  Most coaches have been very flexible with their time, and I would like to do the same.

Pre-Camp (All Members) August 15 and 16 9am-11am

Leadership Meeting (Leadership Team Only) August 15 and 16 11am-12pm

Band Camp (All Members) August 21 – August 24

Uniform Fittings

August 15 Grade 9-10 12pm-3pm and 6pm to 9pm

August 16 Grades 11-12 12pm-3pm

(We do ask that you try to follow the times for each grade.  If a time does not work for your grade level, please come to one of the other fittings)

Uniform Help

Under the band booster section of the webpage we have a Sign Up Genius started to get parents involved in helping fit the uniforms.  We have 140 kids to fit so the more volunteers we have the more efficient we can be!

A few new things have been added to the website as we are getting closer to camp:

• Additional Parts – Bari Sax, Bass Clarinet are now available.
• Roster with Part Assignments
• MP3 Recordings (Computer generate sounds)

Other Information

• Drumline parts have now been emailed out.  Contact Mark if you did not get them
• Pit Percussion parts are not quite done yet, but expect them soon.
