End of the Year Updates and What We Know Right Now

This post is for all enrolled incoming freshmen and all enrolled high school band members for 20-21 and their parents.  Please take the time to read this email carefully.

I would like to begin by saying how much we miss all our students and being able to make music together.  We miss
our Band Family!  It has been difficult to be in the position of waiting and we want to communicate with you what we know right now.   We have been maintaining contact with our administration and are developing several different plans for what the start of our year could look like.

We are still holding our original date of Aug 3-7 for Band Camp.  We are looking into procedures to make sure we have a safe camp and follow the guidelines from the State.  

Here is what we need right now.  

Parents – please fill out the following Band Commitment form for the 2020-21 school year.  It will only take a couple of minutes!  You will see more instructions and dates on the form but we need this document for planning purposes.  We do get a roster from the school however the counselors work on Infinite Campus as a “work in progress” and can be prone to errors.  We use our form to plan and we don’t want to leave anyone out!  Here is a link to the form:

The following is the pep band schedule for the double header basketball games. 

Participation  in the pep band helps to earn band awards.

All games will have a rehearsal at 4:45pm, first game at 6:00, and second game at 7:30

1/24/20 vs Comstock Park

2/14/20 vs Grand Rapids Catholic Central

2/28/20 vs West Catholic

Parents and Band Members,

At the banquet I talked about WZZM coming to Coopersville for the Morning Sideline.  The band is scheduled to perform at the event so please help to make plans now for getting the kids there early.  We will not be wearing our uniforms but would like the students to wear their band shirt.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25th

Here are the details:

5:45 am Enter Gyms and be ready to play

6:00 am Cameras are on we will be live with the band playing 

6:10 am Cameras will be on again with the band performing.

6:30 am Cameras on and band will be playing

6:56 am Sign off and pictures with WZZM

High School Band Members and Parents,

Thank you for your flexibility with the schedule last Friday.  It was really great to see parents, students and our boosters make everything work!

We may encounter another scenario this week similar to what happened last week.  Many schools are already moving up games, so we want to be ready.  Here is the current schedule as it stands right now.

3:45 Report to Band Room and Change into Uniform

4:15 Line Up for Parade

5:00 Parade

5:30 Dinner provided by the Band Boosters (Donations of beverages would be appreciated)

6:15 Warm up on Practice Field

6:40 March to Stadium

7:00 Game

If this schedule changes we will email out information as soon as we get it.

Just a reminder that all band members march.  If student wants to represent another group while they march, they should talk to Mr. VanStrien or Mrs. Borst.
