(This is the same post from the Infinite Campus mailing)

JULY UPDATE

Marching Band activities are about to get started!  Drumline and Leadership teams will report soon, and we can’t wait to see everyone!

MUSIC

Students – Wind players, your music is ready!   It might be a good time to blow off the dust and start looking at your parts!  Be sure to take a look at the roster for your part assignment.  (Part assignments are subject to change, however).  You will need your CAPS email to log in.   Mark is working on finishing the drumline parts and he will be getting those to you shortly.

BAND FEE AND EQUIPMENT

The Band Boosters collect a Band Fee during camp.  The money collected helps pay for instructors at camp and clinicians throughout the year and any other needs above and beyond normal instruction.  We will not exclude anyone from participation in the band program if the fee is a financial hardship. If you are in need of financial assistance, please complete the form hereWe will have boosters collecting the fee during check-in during camp week.   We will also be able to accept Paypal as a payment method.

$50 – Band Fee (ALL BAND MEMBERS 9-12)

Freshmen & New Members – One-time only

$10 – Uniform Black Band T-shirt (To be used as part of the uniform)

$32 – Uniform Shoes (Online order form will be posted later)

The boosters do have an inventory of used shoes as well.  Contact uniforms@coopersvillebands.org if you are interested.

UNIFORM FITTINGS

Uniform fittings for both marching and concert uniforms will occur before and after band camp.  Assigned times will be posted later.

Students may choose between a tuxedo or long black dress for their concert uniform. A part of the concert band uniform consists of black shoes. In order to be properly fitted for the concert uniforms, students MUST bring their black dress shoes with them to the fitting. The same pair of black shoes they plan on wearing to concerts. This will allow the fitters to measure and hem the dress or pants to the correct length.

PROPS

We are looking for both parent and student volunteers to help make props for our Monopoly show.   We will need four wood “Title Deeds” that need to be propped up in the front of the field.   I would also like a red MONOPOLY logo that we can place in the middle of the field that is safe to march on.   We will also be looking at creating title deeds for the band member’s shakos as well. If you are willing and able to help, please send an email to directors@coopersvillebands.org.

Muskegon Invitational Cancelled Due to Projected Inclement Weather – HS

Muskegon Invitational Cancelled Due to Projected Inclement Weather

We have some disappointing news to share this morning. The Muskegon Marching Invitational was canceled this morning due to the projected weather forecast. We have spent a lot of time with the director from Muskegon this morning weighing the pros and cons. Here are the factors that went into the decision.

Safety – If we attended the festival and thunderstorms rolled in, we would not have an immediate place for shelter. With construction around Muskegon High School the busses would be out of reach.

Covid Protocol – In the event of thunderstorms, we would not be able to transition inside. Musekgon requires everyone to be masked and we do not currently have the correct PPE for instruments belll covers and playing masks that we would need.

Bussing and Clinicians – With any cancellation we need to give the bus garage notice so they can contact the drivers and change plans. Muskegon also had clinicians set to drive in today and they need time to adjust their schedule as well.

While we are disappointed we can not perform today, we are looking forward to our auditorium show next week and celebrating the fantastic work our students have displayed this year!
