Frequently Asked Questions

Fundraising!

The most common question is, “What is fundraiser money spent on?”  In short, the Boosters have helped pay for Senior awards, pizza before games, Memorial Day parade ice cream, software and website fees, Band Letters, summer camp scholarships, middle school and high school concert uniforms, marching band uniforms, equipment, instruments, marching band uniform accessories, administrative supplies, music, Senior plaques, drumline drums and more!  Because of fundraising efforts, last year we were able to hand out over $4,300 in band scholarships for summer, Honors band, and Drum Major camps. How awesome is that?! If you would like more details, please join us at our monthly band booster meetings where we go over our financial report in more detail.

In the 2018/2019 school year our band program will have approximately 150 high school students and 220 middle school students, plus any 5th graders that decide to join this fall.  It is awesome that the program is growing, but this also means the Boosters will need your help with fundraising to keep the costs low for your student(s).  We also have the High School band trip to New York this coming spring, so some of the high schooler’s fundraising efforts will go towards their trip instead of the Booster fund.

We do not want band to become a financial burden to anyone!! It is important that your child fundraises to keep this awesome program going and growing! We also have new forms that will need to be filled out if you need any financial assistance from the Band Boosters.  The “Bronco Heartship” funds are given to band students who need a little extra assistance with paying their band fees throughout the year.  There is also a “Summer Camp Scholarship Application” for students seeking funds to put towards their summer camp band experience.  These forms will be located on Coopersvillebands.org under Band Boosters or your student can get one from the directors at school.

We are starting the year off with Buffalo Wild Wings, Hungry Howies, chocolate bars, and bbq sauce/coffee fundraisers.  Buffalo Wild Wings fundraiser: funds will go towards the Booster fund. Hungry Howies pizza coupon fundraiser:  5th-8th grade funds raised will go towards the Booster fund and 9th-12th grade sales will help fund their band trip.  Candy bar fundraiser:  5th-8th grade funds raised will go towards the Booster fund; and 9th-12th graders’ first box will go towards the Booster fund and any box sold after that will help fund their band trip.  Bbq Sauce and Coffee fundraiser:  5th-8th grade funds raised will go towards the Booster fund and 9th-12th grade sales will help fund their band trip.  Starting in 2019, we will look at having fundraisers for 8th graders to raise funds for their freshman year, however they are able to start right now raising funds through the SCRIP program.  More information with specifics to come soon. If you have any fundraiser ideas, please let us know!

We appreciate all your student’s fundraising and your support for our band students, staff and Boosters!  Thank you!! Our next meeting is Monday, September 10th at 6pm at the middle school choir room.  We would love to see you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Volunteering!

Our goal is to take care of our student’s odds and ends so the directors can concentrate on directing and having our students perform their best!  We are always looking for volunteers to help at band camp, with uniforms, at festivals, with pizza parties, etc. If you would like to volunteer, first you need to complete a background check.  This is as easy as going to the high school office, fill it out and hand it back in.   It will only take a couple of minutes to fill out while you are in the office. If you can’t help with marching band, but think you may be able to help with festival or a band concert, fill one out now so you don’t have to worry about getting it done at the last minute.*  The high school office is currently open. The background checks are free and a mandatory school policy that need to be completed every year. We will be checking to see if they are completed a week before an event. *Note:  Starting spring of 2019, you will need to complete your background check at the end of May.  This will cover the summer of 2019 through the 2019/2020 school year.

“How can I help?”

We ask that every family help with either a time, talent or treasure.  TIme: If you have extra time on your hands, we can always use it to help chaperone, fit uniforms, etc.  Talent: We all have talents that we can use. Can you sew, build or fix equipment? Throughout the year, we may be asking for a talent that you can provide!  Treasure: We understand that families are busy and maybe your talent hasn’t been asked for yet, but you still want to help in some way. We also have a need for cash donations throughout the year.   This would help families that need a little extra assistance or help purchase pizza for the students before a football game. Any help from each family would be appreciated greatly!!

“Where do I sign up?”

For easy and quick assess, there will be one Coopersville Bands Volunteer website that you can keep returning to throughout the year to see what is available.  You can bookmark it to your web browser. Please visit it frequently because it will be updated throughout the year. We will also send it out week(s) prior to an event to help remind you.  If you don’t have the time to volunteer, great news…we also need donations! Check it out today!
