WORDS OF INSPIRATION · NO. 6
Maturity
Yesterday the High School Jazz Band attended the TAC Jazz Fest in Hastings. It is one of my favorite events of the year.
During our time in Hastings, I had the opportunity to talk with two students who really impressed me. They shared thoughtful ideas about how we as a group could improve the way we treat wait staff at the restaurant we visited. While nothing was seriously wrong, they pointed out that we could do a better job cleaning up after ourselves and showing respect for the staff, especially during such a busy time.
This is a great example of maturity and a reminder that it is all of our responsibility to look out for others. These two students are developing skills that will serve them well long after high school. As a teacher, I have the unique opportunity to watch students grow over eight years. These two students have always been wonderful, and it has been especially rewarding to see their continued growth. I am very proud of them.
