Booster Meeting

Monday, April 8, 2019

Meeting called to order at 6:02 pm

In attendance – Amy Karns, Christine Sprague, Greg VanStrien, Lisa Borst, Beth Mast, Keli Norbert, Anne Patrenko (GVSU student teacher), Mr. Knudson, Sue Bennett

Student representative – Vincent Bennett

Guest – Assistant Superintendent Peg Baker

Reports

  • March meeting minutes – motion made and approved by Beth Mast and Christine Sprague.
  • Financial – Keli Norbert
    • Last NYC payment now paid.
  • Fundraisers
    • $150,000 goal accomplished. Beth and Karen to pick up check along with band student representatives, date to be determined, plus an article to appear in the Observer.
    • New family fare $150,000 goal has now begun.
    • Scrip – Amy Karns asked if anyone had any questions: no questions.
    • Buffalo Wild Wings – Amy Karns
      • Fundraiser earned $76.00, thank you to everyone who participated. Money sent to general fund.
    • New Buffalo Wild Wings fundraiser scheduled April 14, 2019.
    • Beat the train donated $100.00 to Band Boosters, thank you to all who volunteered.

  • Nothing to report

Band Director’s Report

  • 8th grade band going to state band festival April 24, 2019 at Muskegon Orchard View.
  • NYC Trip
    • Viewed information packet for trip. Packet will be e-mailed out on April 9, 2019.
    • Received final itinerary.
    • Reviewed documents (Medical release). All must be signed by parent or guardian.

New Business

  • Guest Peg Baker discussed the possibility for Band Boosters to volunteer in concession sales to earn money for our band. Thank you Peg Baker. Amy Karns will explore this further, thank you Amy.
  • Will sell candy bars 2 for 1 at all spring concerts along with flowers.
  • Discussion on how to disperse summer band camp money, at least 10% of cost up to 20% will be discussed further.

Old Business

  • Parent meeting for NYC April 9, 2019.
  • Volunteers needed for table sales for spring band concerts.
